Photo update

I've been meaning to update for a while, but I've been really busy at work, then with vacation packing.

Now that Robbie is one year old, I wanted to post some pictures from a year ago and some taken in the past month. So, here's a photo update.

Bumper stickers

Bumper sticker I saw this morning:

WATCH THAT DRIVER BEHIND ME

Makes me wish I had a bumper sticker to entertain the next commuters in line.

One year after the nightmare.

Today is Robbie's un-birthday. One year ago today, Robbie was almost born. May 5, 2007 was the day we began emotionally holding our breath, waiting, hoping, praying, begging God for a healthy child, one that could breathe on his own. I'm tearing up just thinking about that terrifying night and all the things the neonatologist told us the next day. But he wasn't born that night or the next one. He was born nearly 8 weeks later. It was a tremendous blessing and an answer to prayer, even my doctor said so. Today, we are having Robbie's unbirthday party.  I just want to cuddle him close and thank God for our normal, healthy baby.

Embrace the Lame!

Here is my list of lameness in no particular order.

1. I use the notepad feature of my email to make my grocery list. I also use it to write menus and keep a running tally of my son's new foods. All because I can't keep up with the same piece of paper for more than 2 days.

2. I like to read. I'm currently reading a book written by a physicist about sci-fi technologies and which of them are possible (meaning they don't violate known laws of physics).

3. I read "Christian romance novels" the way some girls watch chick flicks.

4. I read a lot of juvenille fiction. I like kids' books. I tried reading modern adult fiction, but didn't like the overuse of explicatives and unnecessarily graphic descriptions of intimacy.

5. Things I ponder over breakfast: Who was St. Mungo and how would he have been cannonized?

6. I blow "rasberries" at my son because he'll do it back.

7. I listen to yahoo radio. It lets you rate music that you like. Most of my highly rated music is from the mid-90s.

8. Yahoo radio gives you a ranking based on how many songs, artists, etc. you have rated. When I hear a new song I like on the regular radio, I try to remember the band name or song title so I can rank them.

ETL

This a publicity note for my friend Dave's invented holiday. "Embrace the Lame" Day will be next Monday. ETL Day is a day to celebrate all the things about yourself that are uncool, weird, "lame." So, celebrate your oddities next Monday! If you post about it, leave a comment here for Dave, and see who else is celebrating their quirks.
